  • Mobility in Bachelor Studies

    Information and documentation for Changins Bachelor students wishing to go on international mobility

     

    1. Choose your options

    a) Take classes abroad over one or two semesters

     -  Brock University (Ontario, Canada)

      

    N.B. Please note that:

        • it is generally necessary to study an extra semester in Changins, in order to complete the full curriculum, as some compulsory courses are not taught in Canada
        • mobility over 2 semesters during the 3rd year (i.e. semester 5 and 6) is highly favoured
        • If you are not back early enough for the "Stage vendange", you can define a "Supplementary work" to be made in the framework of your Bachelor thesis. The student will be asked to write a 2-3 pages report to be evaluated by the supervisor at Brock University.

     

     b) Do your Bachelor thesis abroad

         Outside Europe

    (for a minimum of one month)

    Brock University (Ontario, Canada)

    Stellenbosch University (Stellenbosch, South Africa)

    Charles Sturt University (Wagga Wagga, Australia)

     

         Within Europe (SEMP mobility)

    (for a minimum of two months)

    Université de Bourgogne (Dijon, France)

    -  WeinCampus Neustadt (Neustadt, Germany)

     

    N.B. Please note that the number of places offered in each partner institution may vary from year to year

     

    2. Application procedure

       a/ Application and selection:

    Outside Europe

        • Contact Roland Riesen (Head of Master Programm and International Relations ) roland.riesen@changins.ch for your application
        • Complete a Learning agreement with your host institution and Roland Riesen. This agreement specifies which classes you will follow or which objectives will need to be fulfilled within your Bachelor thesis
        • You can find course equivalents with Brock University here. Please note that some courses may cost extra (to be paid by students). It is necessary to ask your contact person at Brock University for further information
        • You will also be asked to fill out and sign a Declaration

      

    Within Europe

        • Contact Roland Riesen (Head of Master Programm and International Relations) roland.riesen@changins.ch  for your application

    The selection criteria are as follows:

    • Minimum language requirement for host institution's official language: B1 (Common European FrameWork (CEF))
    • To have completed the 2nd year of study in Changins with an average > 4.5
    • Degree and type of motivation

        • Please complete the following forms:
      • Learning agreement for Traineeships (not yet available for 2016/17) to be signed by Roland Riesen and the contact person of your host institution. This agreement specifies your mobility program and its objectives
      • Declaration of Obligations (not yet available for 2016/17) to be signed by Roland Riesen
      • Insurance Declaration (not yet available for 2016/17)
      • Please write a cover letter explaining why you want to to study abroad

      

         b/ Registration:

                         It might be useful to read the Application guide for students before completing the form

      
     

    Deadlines for application and registration are:

    -  15 January for a Bachelor thesis abroad

    -  1 April to study the 5-6th semesters abroad

     

    3. Organize your stay

        • It is necessary to announce your program and date of arrival to your host institution
        • Please note that you are responsible for your visa, travel arrangement and accommodation abroad. The contact person in your host institution might help you find a suitable accommodation. 
        • Make sure you have the necessary insurance coverage. Note that the university health insurance of the host institution might be compulsory in some cases.
        • If you are planning to stay in Canada, please read the following document "Canada: Information concernant les démarches et formalités à entreprendre dans le cadre d'une mobilité")
        • A financial contribution is offered to students on mobility

      

     4. Once there and when your are back

    Please make sure you complete and provide us with the following documents:

    Outside Europe

        • Certificate of Attendance signed by the host institution
        • Transcript of record signed by your host institution
        • Final Report to be handed in within a month after your arrival back in Changins

     

    Within Europe

        • Transcript of work certificate (Certificat de travail) signed by your host institution
        • Final Report (not yet available for 2016/17) to be handed in within a month after your arrival back in Changins
