Global warming in Europe, whose effects in terms of heatwaves, droughts, floods and their damaging consequences for life are beginning to be felt, will increase by a further +4° Celsius by 2100. The climate in Geneva today will no longer be in Geneva in 2100, but above Hamburg, while in 2100 Geneva will experience a climate similar to that of Mexico, Japan, North Africa or Sicily. If the city is to remain alive, if living things are to remain alive, if human beings are to continue to live in Geneva in 2100, architecture and the interior must already be conceived, adapted and built in a climate similar to that which currently exists further south. Our project for the MAIA is thus to study interior architecture and decoration adapted today to these warmer Mediterranean, Central American and Asian climates, and to imagine, propose and test their immediate acclimatization for Switzerland's cities and its culture, so that life for humans, plants and animals remains possible in 2100. The semester will be divided into different phases, alternating research and design. The program will focus on living in Geneva, and will culminate in the creation of prototype decorative elements.
