Summary

This 12-week course is destined for students with a B2 C1 level. We will develop our communication skills, our job seeking abilities, our study skills in English, and other skills as required.

The course will include authentic materials from the media, such as BBC articles, the Guardian, TED talks, and other listening activities.

It will develop your vocabulary skills in areas of interest to you for your studies and general knowledge.

It will review key grammar points.

It will cover other aspects of interest as they arise.

Students may submit an assignment for the tutor to give feedback if they so wish. This could be a study assignment, their CV or motivation letter in English.

A short preparation task will be set for each class to help get the ball rolling. It is optional but recommended.

Follow-up activities will also be suggested.

B2 C1 English course Oct-Dec 2024 - Introduction

Course tutor: Carol Waites has taught English and writing skills to international civil servants in Geneva for over 20 years. Before that, she taught English to adults at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia for 16 years, and in Spain for six years.

She is British, Australian and Swiss. Apart from English as her native tongue, Carol also speaks fluent French and Spanish, and B1 level Italian.

Timetable: Thursdays 17.30-19.00.

Dates: From 3 October till 19 December.
